Smokey Iris Tutorial

The transition between the holographic projector activation and Rex suddenly appearing in a new landscape is achieved with a series of fade-ins and a smokey iris. In the video below, I’m explaining how the smokey iris effect is achieved.

    • Hi Andrew, I am 100% self-taught on the computer. All the programs I use, I learned by diving in. Trial and error, really. I first visualize in my head what I want to do in a specific shot, and then figure out how to make it happen with software. It’s like solving puzzles!

  1. Technical question: are you using a particular video card? I thought about getting a Quadro card, but I have read so-so reviews on them. I currently have a GTX 260 that I bought four years ago. It’s performing well, but was thinking of upgrading it at some point in the future.
